Expanding the PowerDsine product portfolio, the 3001G single-port, Gigabit power over Ethernet (PoE) midspan eliminates the need for external power supplies at remote wireless LAN access points and other low-density networks employing 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet devices. The module complies with the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard and can power either 802.3af-compliant or pre-standard devices. It features a proprietary interlocking function that allows users to scale WLAN deployments by linking together multiple one-port midspans as devices are added to the network. The interlocking feature eliminates the need to deal with conventional single-port power-injector solutions that do not interlock and often cause wire tangles. Samples are available now with general availability in March. Single-unit price is $69. MICROSEMI CORP., Irvine, CA. (800) 713-4113.
