Thought to be the industry’s most precise MEMS inclinometer, the ADIS16209 provides a fully compensated direct angle output with less than 0.1º linear inclination error. The accuracy is the result of an integrated embedded controller that uses factory-installed calibration coefficients. The controller dynamically senses the system environment and compensates the direct-digital angular output to account for changes in voltage, temperature, angle, and other variables. The tunable digital sensor’s data is output via a SPI port, which provides access to inclination (0.025º resolution), acceleration (0.244 mg resolution), temperature, and power supply. The highly integrated device also includes a 12-bit auxiliary analog-to-digital converter input and digital-to-analog converter output, a digital self-test function, and configurable condition monitoring, including alarms. The ADIS16209 is sampling now in a 9.2 mm x 9.2 x 3.9 mm laminate-based, LGA package. Production quantities will be available in November. The device costs $34.40 each/1,000.
