Built around a dual processor core, the Wave chip family with flash memory is designed for use in low-cost, low-speed voice and data transmission applications, such as wireless data terminals, POS and credit-card verification systems, and cordless remote control products. Based on the firm’s Z87L02, these wireless spread spectrum voice and data controllers support a range of frequencies, including 902 MHz and 2.4 and 5.8 GHz.Wave DSP chips are reportedly easy to switch between 32 kbps voice and data in half- or full-duplex communication, with the devices supporting adaptive frequency hopping at rates of 250 hops/s.
