A new enhanced API introduced for the MediaBlade family of products supports up to 240 media server ports, allowing OEMs to develop value-added applications and increase time-to-market revenue for carriers, service providers and enterprise system integrators. Applications built using MediaBlade include conferencing solutions, unified messaging, IVR, voice mail, high-density IP PBX and customer care solutions. MediaBlade's API distributes and abstracts low-level details of DSP resources and algorithms, shielding applications from system-specific issues such as programming languages, operating systems, networking protocols, and hardware. Strengths of the enhanced API include: operating system independence, which allows MediaBlade to bypass the cPCI bus and achieve control over an Ethernet interface; and signaling-protocol agnostic API, which enables the system to integrate a variety of signaling standards for interoperability with next-generation solutions. In addition, with the enhanced API, system developers can scale IP-based media services from a few hundred ports to several thousand ports, with components of the application residing in the same system or in different systems connected to the same network. List price for the complete IP media package is $35 per port. ARTESYN COMMUNICATION PRODUCTS, Madison, WI. (800) 356-9602.
