Technologies that can reduce the average DSP coding time by up to 50% or more are said to be included in Code Composer Studio, an open, integrated DSP software development environment. Using the tools, designers can bring applications such as wireless base stations, remote access servers, digital subscriber loop systems, high-end vision systems, and voice-over-packet to market more easily and reliably. The environment extends and integrates the capabilities of the Code Composer Integrated Development Environment (IDE), DSP/BIOS and Real-Time Data Exchange (RTDX) technologies and the TI C compiler, assembly optimizer and linker, all within an extensible plug-in architecture. These foundation technologies contribute to a high level of host/target integration, which enable the software's key features- i.e., open host/target plug-in tools, real-time analysis and debugging, and advance data and system visualization.A wide variety of specialized, third-party tool plug-ins are available to support specific applications. Developers need not spend time and resources creating customized utilities and can focus on the task at hand, which is coding their DSP applications. Real-time analysis and debugging allow designers to view data from the DSP application without stopping execution. This capability supports quick identification of problems during design, development and in the field. Also, advanced data visualization lets signals and data from the target be seen more naturally, so developers can see unexpected application behavior in real-time. Code Composer Studio is for Windows 95/98/NT and will initially support the TMS320C6201 evaluation module, the XDS-510 emulator and the 'C6000 instruction-set simulator.
