GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms selected Tundra Semiconductor's Tsi578 serial RapidIO switch for its DSP220, DSP230, and CRX800 system blades designed for defense and aerospace applications like radar, image, and sensor processing. The Tundra Tsi578's multi-port configurability provides the level of connectivity required to support system architectures like VPX and VXS. "Tundra’s long history of supporting the embedded space with excellent off-the-shelf bridge and RapidIO switch solutions, coupled with their expert technical support, makes them a supplier of choice for many of our high-performance applications," Peter Cavill, general manager for military and aerospace products at GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, said in a statement. According to a Tundra release, companies can leverage the value of RapidIO interconnect solutions. Tundra supports the development of the RapidIO standard, which is the leading serial interconnect standard among companies like Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Freescale Semiconductor, and Texas Instruments.
