A new dc/dc converter has been designed with seven different combinations of 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V output voltages, enabling the designer to supply both core and I/O processor voltages with one converter. The HD Dual converter is fully isolated to 1,500 Vdc and supports input voltage ranges of 18V to 36V, and 36V to 75V. Regardless of the output voltage pair selected, each voltage is independently regulated and can be individually trimmed to ±10%. Each output is rated for up to 10A of output current, with a combined maximum power level of 75W, and both outputs can be operated down to no load current without damage to the part. Pulse by pulse current limiting and short circuit protection are included as standard options, as are over-voltage, under-voltage and reverse polarity protection. The dual converter is packaged in a 2.28" x 2.4" encapsulated case with an aluminum baseplate for excellent thermal performance. Operating temperature range for the HD series is –40°C to +100°C at the baseplate. MTBF is greater than 1,000,000 hours per Bellcore method 1, case 1. Positive and negative on/off logic is available, and the product offers a low idle current of 2 mA. Upon power up, the turn on overshoot is 0%. Pricing is less than $100/1,000. CALEX MFG. CO.
