The M Series of ADSP-218x DSPs includes three 16-bit devices that offer code compatibility with earlier ADSP-2100 DSPs as well as pin compatibility with other ADSP-218x parts. All of the M Series DSPs consume just 0.4 mA/MIPS and offer processing power of 75 MIPS. At the head of the class is the ADSP-2188M, which offers 2 Mbits of on-chip SRAM to make it the largest 16-bit, single-core DSP available, it's claimed. The ADSP-2185M for a 100-pin TQFP, is said to hit the market sweet spot in terms of speed, on-chip memory (0.66 Mbits of SRAM), power consumption and price. It's got enough memory to handle many DSP algorithms. The ADSP-2189M offers 1.5 Mbits of SRAM. All three offer two TDM serial ports, Byte DMA and 16-bit DMA. The -2185M and -2198M are also offered in 144-pin mBGAs.
