Claiming to simultaneously reduce the cost and speed of ADSP-219x DSP-based systems, the DSM2190F4 system memory chip provides two independent flash-memory arrays. One array contains 256 KB in 32-KB sectors and the other contains 32 KB in 8-KB sectors. Both arrays can be accessed concurrently, allowing the DSP to read from one while erasing or writing to the other. Also, both arrays can be combined to yield a total, continuous array of 288 KB. Other features include a programmable logic device array containing 3,000 gates and 16 macrocells and 16 multi-function I/O pins. Price is $3.99 each/10,000. STMICROELECTRONICS INC., Lexington, MA.
