Groomed for the company's next generation residential gateway products, the UR8 architecture features an open platform, enhanced voice capabilities, and advanced multimedia processing over all DSL standards. It consists of an advanced multimedia processor, programmable DSL PHY, DSP-based voice sub-system, and a comprehensive set of standard interfaces. The DSP provides a variety of voice capabilities with support for up to four channels of wire-line or wireless voice. Additionally, the programmable voice subsystem has access to an extensive voice codec library and Telogy Software for VoIP including wideband codecs, fax and modem relay, packet-loss minimization, and noise-reducing algorithms. Overall, this approach yields a well-defined API, allowing maximum hardware and software reuse and the deployment of numerous high-bandwidth services over all ADSL and VDSL standards. Also, a third-party support network delivers further differentiation. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
