Dubbed the industry's most secure supervisor for servers, cryptographic coprocessors, POS terminals, and communication apps, the DS3645 integrates a real-time clock, automatic battery switch, and I2C interface. It provides active tamper detection with rapid erasure of key memory and supports FIPS 140-2 Levels 3 and 4 as well as the highest requirements of Common Criteria. A unique feature, the DS3645 packs 4 KB of proprietary, nonvolatile SRAM to store encryption keys. Reportedly, this memory architecture constantly complements the SRAM cells to eliminate the possibility of memory imprinting due to oxide stress. Additionally, a clearing function can erase the entire 4-KB array in less than 100 ns after generation of a tamper alarm. For pricing and availability, call MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA.
