Consistent with the company’s green initiative, the MLX90248 omni-polar Hall-effect switch employs enhanced CMOS technology, producing a non-contact magnetic switch with low power consumption. The device operates from a 1.5V supply, but is suitable for existing 3V applications. Additionally the MLX90248 offers significantly higher ESD protection up to 8 kV. Based on the Hall-Effect principle, the device provides magnetic, contactless, solid-state switching for applications demanding special power management schemes such as standby mode. It typically consumes 5 µA at 3V and 3 µA at 1.5V. The MLX90248 is available in an industry standard TSOT package (MLX90248ESE) and in a 2 mm x 1.5 mm x 0.4 mm CSP (MLX90248ELD).
