The Nucleus real-time operating system (RTOS) now handles Renesas SH4AL-DSP-based microcontrollers such as the SH-Mobile3. The DSP platform targets mobile multimedia applications. The RTOS can take advantage of the 3-Mpixel class camera module support, moving image processing by 2D/3D graphics engine and an MPEG-4 hardware accelerator. The Nucleus embedded software is sold in source code format and without royalty fees. Nucleus code|lab development tool pricing begins at $2495 per seat. The tools are available in binary format in either node-locked or floating licensing schemes. The Nucleus software license begins at $12,495 per seat.
