Active power dissipation of less than 115 mW at 100 MIPS is featured by two ultra-small DSPs. The TMS320C549 and TMS320C5410 DSPs are aimed at designers of wireless and wireline communication systems seeking to provide more channels per watt. The chips, which come in the company's microStar BGAs measuring 12 mm x 12 mm x 1.4 mm or a TQFP that ensures design portability for existing 'C54x users, carry up to 64 kwords of on-chip SRAM. The 'C5410 offers optimal matching of MIPS to on-chip memory, as well as a direct connection to interface components for industry-standard H.100/H.110 telecommunication buses. A complete suite of development tools is available to support code generation, simulation and emulation. Hardware development platforms are also available.
