our high-performance 32-Bit microcontrollers are aimed at automobile and home audio products that have audio data playback functions compatible with various compression standards, especially those that record music data in compressed form on a disk drive. The SH7261 family has sufficient processing power and functionality to replace both a system controller and the DSP and LSI devices normally required for digital audio processing. The MCUs accommodate middleware for various audio formats—MP3, WMA and AAC (Advanced Audio Coding). Two of the devices (SH72611) provide a 2-channel CAN controller, while two others (SH72612) have an IEBus controller. All versions contain a multifunction timer unit (MTU2 type), 10-bit ADC, 8-bit DAC, and a serial communications interface with a 16-stage FIFO buffer. Operating frequencies range from 80 to 120 MHz depending on model. Pricing starts at $14.80 each. RENESAS TECHNOLOGY AMERICA INC., San Jose, CA. (408) 382-7407
