Plessey Semiconductors’ Electric Potential Integrated Circuit (EPIC) sensor technology measures electric field changes like a magnetometer detecting changes in a magnetic field. EPIC requires no physical or resistive contact to make measurements and integrates on a chip with other features: data converters, DSPs, etc. The technology works at room temperature and functions as an ultra-high, input-impedance sensor that acts as a contactless digital voltmeter. Allegedly, EPIC technology is so sensitive that it can detect changes at a distance and even through a solid wall. Plessey Semiconductors Ltd., United Kingdom. +44 1752 693000.
