Trumpeted as the first true system on chip (SoC) for EVM smart card terminals, the 73S1121F includes an 8052 processor, USB interface, and two smart-card interfaces with dedicated UART. The device also integrates development software layers, I/O, 64 KB of flash memory, 4 KB of RAM, and a PIN pad interface. A low-level API is provided for device control, and a high-level API contains the protocol layers for asynchronous cards and the USB. The two ISO7816/EVM smart-card interfaces can be used to simultaneously connect to a card and to a secure application module. Samples are available now with production scheduled for June.
