With a peak performance of 100 MIPS, the C8051F120 microcontroller (MCU) family claims to be the industry's highest performance devices to date. In addition to the 100-MIPS 8051 CPU, the devices integrate a two-cycle 16x16 multiply-accumulate (MAC) unit and 12-bit a/d and d/a converters, with the ADC sampling at rates up to 100 ksamples/s. The MCUs also feature 128 KB of flash memory, 8,448 bytes of RAM, and an internal oscillator, temperature sensor, voltage reference, and two UARTs. Pin-compatible with the C8051F124 family of 50-MIPS 8051 MCUs, the C8051F120 devices are available in either a 100-pin or 64-pin TQFP. Prices start at $9.44 each/10K.
