Expanding the company's lineup of 16- and 32-bit flash microcontrollers are 16 devices that offer up to twice the memory and an increase in pin-count. Based on 0.15-mm processes with SuperFlash technology from Silicon Storage Technology, the additions include two 32-bit V850ES/JJ3 MCUs with up to 1 MB of flash memory, and 14 16-bit 78K0R/Kx3 MCUs with up to 512 KB of flash and 144-pin packages. The devices are poised for industrial and office applications and a range of consumer products. An array of support tools is available including the MINICUBE2 debugger/flash-programmer combination for developing and testing MCU programs, and the Applilet device-driver generator for creating initialization programs. The devices are currently available at $13.50 for the V850ES/JJ3 MCUs and $9 for the 78K0R/Kx3 MCUs in sample quantities. Volume production of the 32-bit V850ES/JJ3 is expected by May 2007 and the 78K0R/Kx3 by October 2007. NEC ELECTRONICS AMERICA INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 366-9782.
