In a 28-pin chip-scale package measuring 4.5 mm x 5.5 mm x 1 mm, the COP8SAC family of EPROM-based OTP microcontrollers is claimed as the world’s smallest highly integrated 8-bit MCU. The Silicon Dust devices include peripherals such as power-on reset, an RC oscillator with four clock options, watchdog and clock monitor, up to 12 high-current outputs, 16-bit multifunction timers, a processor-independent PWM mode, an external event counter, and more. The MCUs provide for efficient application code and permit production builds before code is optimized, allowing use of high-level programming languages for code development.
