With 2K x 14 bits of flash memory and 64 kbytes of EEPROM data memory, the 28-pin PIC16F872 features an operating voltage range of 2.0 to 5.5V and extends the firm's Migratable Memory technology, making it suitable for ac or battery-powered applications. Migratable memory technology provides socket and software compatibility among all equivalent ROM, one-time-programmable and flash memory MCUs in the PICmicro family. The technology allows users to match MCU memory technology to the life cycle of the application. The PIC16F872 also has a 5-channel, 10-bit A/D converter, brownout detection, up to 5 MIPS performance at 20 MHz, I2C or SPI communications capability for peripheral expansion, two 8-bit timers and one 16-bit timer. Applications include networked communications, point-of-sale terminals, utility metering, programmable machine controls, power management, and more.
