Signal conditioning for bridge-type or bridge-configured sensors such as thermistors, strain gauges, load cells and pressure sensors is performed by the MLX90308 sensor interface. On-chip features reduce external component counts and system cost while simplifying design, it's claimed. The device is a dedicated 8-bit microcontroller with analog and digital signal processing capabilities that can perform gain control, offset adjustment, temperature compensation, and linearity correction. Operating from a supply voltage of 5V to 35V, it can provide an output of an absolute voltage, relative voltage, or current. Applications include industrial controls and appliances.
