MCU Family Gains New Flash Members
The PIC18F family of PICmicro flash microcontrollers now numbers among its members the PIC18F8525/6525 and PIC18F8621/6621 devices that boast of 48 KB and 64 KB of flash memory, respectively, as well as 4 KB of RAM and 1,024 bytes of data EEPROM. Other features include added I/Os, timers, a comprehensive peripheral set, and field self-programmability. Available in 64- and 80-pin TQFPs, the MCUs are code-compatible with the company’s current 18-, 28- and 40-pin devices. In terms of peripherals, the chips integrate a 10-bit resolution a/d converter with up to 16 channels, two capture/compare/PWM modules, three enhanced capture/compare/PWM modules, up to 10 MIPS performance at 10 MHz, two eight-bit timers, three 16-bit timers, one watch-dog timer, and dual analog comparators. Additional features include an operating voltage range of 2V to 5.5V and programmable brownout detection/reset. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (888) 628-6247.
