Designed to provide information security in the networking market with support for bulk data and public key encryption, the MPC180 and MPC180e security processors are designed to off-load the processing of IP security protocol, Internet key exchange, SSL, WAP, and WTLS protocols used in broadband access, routers, WAP gateways, and other access applications. The MPC180e also offers elliptic curve cryptography support, said to be suitable for wireless infrastructure applications. The company's security technology is designed to support performance up to 351 Mb/s for the triple data encryption standard (3-DES), and 363 Mb/s on SHA-1 authentication. The MPC180 offers public key performance with an expected signature time of 32 ms for RSA supporting up to 13 IKE connections per second. In addition to the RSA support, the MPC180e offers state elliptic curve cryptography performance with an anticipated 11 ms signature time that can process up to 45.5 IKE connections per second. Packaged in 100-pin LQFPs, the price for the MPC180 is $16.25 and $20.25 for the MPC180e, each/10,000.
