Tiny AI Machine-Vision System Offers Sub-Millimeter Resolution

SiLC Technologies unveiled the Eyeonic Vision System Mini, an innovative system that integrates a full multichannel FMCW LiDAR on a single silicon photonics chip with an FMCW LiDAR system-on-chip (SoC).

Leveraging the iND83301 ("Surya"), from indie Semiconductor, the Eyeonic Mini offers a high level of detail, claiming an order of magnitude greater precision than legacy solutions while being one-third the size of last year's model. Designed specifically for machine-vision applications, the Eyeonic Vision Chip, amalgamates all essential photonics functions into a coherent vision sensor, whose accuracy is driven by a 4-channel FMCW LiDAR chip.

Intended to equip robots with sub-millimeter depth precision from distances exceeding 10 meters, the FMCW LiDAR platform aims to enable a highly versatile and scalable platform to address the needs of many applications. FMCW technology opens the door to a new generation of imaging solutions that can directly capture images for AI machine vision, factory robots, home security, autonomous vehicles, and perimeter security applications.
