Offering a high degree of integration and performance in a small package, the Endura ISL6605 synchronous-rectified buck converter IC saves board space and lowers parts count. Target applications include core power for both Intel and AMD microprocessors, high-frequency low-profile dc-dc converters, high-current low-voltage dc-dc converters, and synchronous rectification for isolated power supplies. The high-frequency 4-A dual-MOSFET driver is optimized to drive two N-channel power MOSFETs in a synchronous-rectified buck-converter topology. It's biased by a single 5-V supply, minimizing lower-driver switching losses for high MOSFET gate capacitance and high-switching-frequency applications. Each driver can drive a 3000-pF load with an 8-ns propagation delay and less than 10-ns transition time. The ISL6605 is available in an eight-lead SOIC (ISL6605CB) or a 3- by 3-mm QFN package (ISL6605CR). The ISL6605-CB and ISL6605CR cost $0.99 and $1.05 each, respectively, in 10,000-unit quantities.
