Shortening the design time for engineers building systems using the firm’s Navigator motion processor ICs is the goal of a developer’s kit. The kit enables users to evaluate and exercise the functions of all the processors in the Navigator family. Included is the firm’s C-Motion API consisting of C source code for developing applications using the ICs. The API can be used as a basis for writing complex applications. Other included software lets users enter chipset instructions that are immediately executed on the board, increasing familiarity with the chips.By interfacing to external components, including amplifiers and motors, via two 50-pin headers the user can create a complete motion-control system. The kit’s board is an IBM AT adapter that fits a standard AT slot. It contains a Navigator processor that’s motor-type specific and supports up to four axes.
