Embedded applications such as printers and set-top boxes, as well as PC motherboards and NICs, are fair game for the TC35815AF, a 10/100-Mbps Ethernet media access controller (MAC). The device features full-duplex flow control and includes a 32-bit PCI bus interface, a DMA engine, a large content-addressable memory, independent transmit and receive FIFOs, and 5V-tolerant I/O. The MAC will be available as a macrocell as well. The chip's full-duplex flow control helps manage network traffic congestion. Its high-performance DMA engine uses burst mode for efficient data transfer.
