Forecasting high-fidelity, pop-free wireless audio for home theater surround sound and multi-room, multi-channel broadcasting, the MelodyWing SP chipset allows each transmitter to wirelessly stream audio to two full-range speakers and a sub-woofer. A smart-channel function automatically selects un-congested industrial, scientific, and medical radio bands at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz to avoid interference. The devices support two standard digital audio interfaces, Sony/Philips Digital Interface (S/PDIF) and I2S, and factory-programmable ISM 2.4 and 5-GHz bands. The chipset can be configured in four ways. These include single-link mode allowing one S/PDIF or 2.1 channel I2S connection between the source and a 2.1 speaker system, triple link allowing three simultaneous wireless connections between the source and a 2.1 multi-channel system, hextuple link with six simultaneous wireless connections between the source and a 5.1 multi-channel speaker system, and multi-link mode for multiple connections between the source and multiple 2.1 multi-channel systems. Other features include operating distances up to 20m, a dynamic range of 90 dB, and IEC support for MP3, AAC, AC3, and DTS modes. The MelodyWing SP includes the SST11SC03 transmitter and SST11SC04 receiver boards. Prices are $21.62 and $21.62 each/10,000, respectively. SILICON STORAGE TECHNOLOGY INC., Sunnyvale, CA.
