Housed in a single 16-pin TSSOP, the MAX4299 integrates audio speaker and headphone drivers, a microphone amplifier, and a 100 mA low-dropout regulator (LDO). This tiny device is designed specifically for use in harsh environments where board space is at a premium and the digital power supply is noisy. The stereo speaker driver and microphone preamplifier use a patented design said to achieve an ultra-high PSRR across the audio signal band and deliver a high current rail-to-rail output drive. The LDO provides up to 100 mA operating from a 3.3V power supply. The headphone drivers are capable of a greater than 90 dB PSRR at 20 kHz and driving a 1.5 VRMS signal into a 10 kiloohm load with 0.0008% distortion or 1.2 VRMS into 32 ohm headphones with 0.01% distortion. Also available in 16-pin SOIC packages, prices start at $1.45 each/1,000.
