Offered as the latest members of the MB90370 series of microcontrollers, the MB90F372 and MB90372 16-bit MCUs incorporate a keyboard controller with an advanced power-management scheme said to extend battery performance in new-generation notebook PCs.

Offered as the latest members of the MB90370 series of microcontrollers, the MB90F372 and MB90372 16-bit MCUs incorporate a keyboard controller with an advanced power-management scheme said to extend battery performance in new-generation notebook PCs. The devices integrate a PS/2 interface and a low pin count (LPC) bus with serial IRQ to simplify the host controller interface. The MCUs also include an on-chip comparator for battery and ac power monitoring and power management for controlling up to three batteries. Other features include: 120 I/O ports; a 12-channel A/D and two-channel D/A converter; four-channel, 16-bit reload timers; and three-channel programmable-pulse generator (PPG) timers. The controller communicates through UART, I2C, multi-address I2C, PS/2, and LPC interfaces. Both MCUs operate at 3V to 3.6V and are manufactured using the company's 0.35 µm CMOS technology. The devices are available in two 144-pin plastic LQFP versions. The MB90F372 with 64 KB of flash memory and 6 KB of RAM is priced at $9.95 each /10K.
