Operating with up to 90% efficiency, the MAX668 and MAX669 fixed-frequency, PWM, step-up dc-to-dc controllers can operate in step-up, SEPIC, flyback, and isolated output configurations to extend battery life in cellular telephones, telecommunications hardware, POS systems, and wireless LAN systems. A wide voltage input range of 1.8V to 28V makes them well suited for designs powered by batteries and ac adapters. These devices come in small, thin 10-pin µMAX packages that occupy half the board space of an 8-pin SO. Height is 1.11 mm. A constant PWM operating frequency of 500 kHz can be set by users and allows use of the smallest external components.
