Designed to support the highest-resolution PC notebook and television displays, the IP4770/71/72CZ16 family of integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection ICs offer large savings in board space and components count compared to previous solutions. The chips accommodate next-generation UXGA and 1080p resolutions used in PC notebooks, mainboards, TVs, VGA cards, set-top boxes, and other applications with a VGA interface. The ICs are application-specific solutions, integrating some of the highest levels of ESD protection, level shifting for DDC lines, buffering for sync drivers, and impedance matching for the sync drivers of VGA ports into one chip. The devices offer impedance matching of only 10O, which is made possible by an innovative production process. Pulse rise and fall time is only 1.5 ns at the sync drivers, the lowest available for such an integrated solution, according to the company. The IP4770/71/72CZ16 family ICs is available immediately. Cost is $0.63 each/10,000. NXP SEMICONDUCTORS, San Jose, CA. (408) 474-8142.
