The MAX9994 is a silicon-germanium (SiGe) single-chip mixer for 2.5G and 3G basestations where high linearity and low noise figure are important for enhanced receiver sensitivity and blocker immunity. It integrates a double-balanced mixer core with two amplifiers, two baluns, a local oscillator (LO) switch and a number of discrete components. This reduces downconverter board space and cuts component count. The device provides 8.3 dB of conversion gain, 9.7 dB noise figure, and an IIP3 (third order intercept) of 26.2 dBm. It operates over a frequency range of 40 to 350 MHz with an LO rejection range of 1,400 to 2,000 MHz. Frequency hopping is supported by the LO switch with switching speeds of less than 50 ns and 45 dB of LO1-to-LO2 isolation. Gain variation is ±0.75 dB over the temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. The mixer is packaged in a 20-pin QFN measuring 5 mm x 5 mm. Prices start at $6.90 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
