EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, San Jose, CA.- In a PC/104+ format, the Emerald-MM-8Plus multi-protocol serial communications board offers eight ports and supports baud rates up to 921.6 Kb/s in RS-232 mode or 1.8432 Mb/s in RS-422 or RS-485 mode. Each port can be individually selected for RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, or TTL operation. It also supports local-echo and non-local-echo modes for RS-485. Protocol type is set via a jumper block for each of the eight ports; line termination for RS-422/-485 modes is also jumper-selectable. Configuration is automatic using plug-and-play technology, or it can be set manually in software, defining a 4K block of configuration space for accessing the registers. Other features include an Exar 17D158 octal UART IC, eight digital I/O lines, and a 16-bit programmable counter/timer with a configurable clock source. Additionally, two I/O headers are provided with four serial ports and four digital I/O lines on each. DIAMOND SYSTEMS CORP., Mountain View, CA. (800) 367-2104.
