The ECU harness-to-PCB connector system promises to cut installation costs and save board space when compared to conventional pin and socket designs. A modular, landed contact system by design, it employs only a plug assembly. Power and signal contacts are encased in a custom housing, and a latching system within the housing ensures secure and reliable mating to the PCB. For automotive applications, the ECU connector mates directly to an engine management system, which can be mounted directly on an engine to meet the environmental requirements of USCAR and SAE J 2030. In terms of cost savings, the system eliminates the female half of the connector, representing what is claimed as a savings of more than 30%. The ECU contacts can be configured for up to 7A power and 1A signal. Additionally, the connectors are sealed to IP69K and operate across a -55°C to +125°C temperature range.
