Packaged in 8-pin SOT packages, the MAX3060E/3061E/3062E RS-485/RS-422 transceivers occupy about 30% of the board space taken up by the industry-standard small outline package. The family comes in three data rate options: MAX3060E for up to 115 kbs, MAX3061E for up to 500 kbs, and MAX3062E for up to 20 Mbs. All feature hot-swap circuitry to ensure reliable data transfer. Hot-swap circuitry eliminates data glitches during hot insertion by holding the transceiver lines in a high-impedance state for at least 10 µs during start-up. The devices also have electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection that is rated up to ±15 kV on the Human Body Model. The 3060E and 3061E contain slew-rate-limiting circuits to prevent reflections and reduce EMI. All versions operate from a single 5V power supply. Prices start at $1.20 each in 1000 piece quantities.
