Taking advantage of a monolithic chip design, the M211 ultra-miniature, solid-state relay is claimed as the first of its kind to offer a current-interrupt function and long-term reliability and performance in a 4-pin SOP package. The device consists of a gallium arsenide, infrared light-emitting diode optically coupled to an integrated driver/output circuit. The MOSFET-based output allows ac-to-dc switching capabilities of up to 400V and 120 mA.The relay's small size makes it well-suited for mobile telecomm switching in laptop, notebook and pocket-sized modems, where saving board space is critical. The current-interrupt function protects downstream circuitry from transient spikes and allows for use in a wide range of telecomm applications. Other areas of use include test and measurement equipment, automated industrial equipment, switching systems, and motor control.
