The MAX4885E is a complete 1:2 VGA multiplexer that switches between two VGA ports. The device features a very low 6-pF (typical) on-capacitance and a low 5-O (typical) on-resistance that permits applications at bandwidths up to 1 GHz. The switch offers a complete VGA solution for switching and translating R, G, B, DDC, and H/V signals, delivering more than twice the bandwidth of other solutions, according to the manufacturer. A high integration level significantly reduces design time, saves board space, and minimizes cost. The device provides extended ±15-kV (human body model) and ±8-kV (contact discharge) electrostatic discharge protection. The multiplexer runs on a single 2.0- to 5.0-V supply and is fully specified over the extended ?40°C to 85°C range. It comes in an industry-standard 4- by 4-mm, 24-pin TQFN package. Prices start at $1.50 for quantities of 1000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 988-8800.
