Claiming to add new dimensions to the use of stepping motors in industrial applications, the IPS150 intelligent step motor drive combines step motor control, motion processing, high-level control functions, and serial communication on a card measuring just 104 mm x 64 mm x 17 mm. Operating modes include master/slave operation in a distributed system or stand-alone operation with pre-defined motion sequences, combined with programmable I/O or analog inputs.The card provides a phase current rating up to 3A (4A boost) at 48 Vdc. The companyÕs motion language includes a high-level command protocol that can be used by the host system through the cardÕs on-board RS-485/232 serial interfaces. Setup, tuning and programming of machine-specific motion sequences are performed through the software.
