Delivering a power density in excess of 5.5W per cubic centimeter, the PF600-1 600W ac/dc converter combines a fully safety-isolated 48V output with on-board active power factor correction. It measures 64.8 mm x 127.0 mm x 14.2 mm and operates at a fixed switching frequency of 300 kHz. Well suited for telecommunications and networking systems, test and measurement hardware, computers and industrial equipment, the unit requires very few additional components to implement a full front-end solution for 48V distributed power architectures. It operates across an input voltage range of 85 to 264 Vac and can deliver its full rated 600W of power with input voltages down to 90 Vac. A standby output can be used to power auxiliary circuits while the PF600-1 output is inhibited. The baseplate-cooled package operates over a temperature range of –10°C to +100°C and sports efficiency levels up to 89%. Pricing is less than $0.50 per Watt/250. C&D TECHNOLOGIES INC., Tucson, AZ.
