Addressing the need to further miniaturize and integrate components for mobile phones are two new types of integrated ESD/EMI filter arrays from EPCOS. The 0405 audio filter, which protects microphone and loudspeaker leads from ESD damage and interference, replaces ten discrete components. RC filters in 0508 and 0306 packages protect display lines, and replace 20 components in a single package. This level of integration allows the number of individual components on the circuit board to be reduced, thereby increasing the reliability of the equipment because fewer solder points are needed. Development costs are also reduced. Delivery is from stock. EPCOS, Iselin, NJ. (800) 888-7728.
