A new converter has been designed to meet cost-sensitive, point-of-load, power conversion requirements in board-level applications such as data acquisition, communications, and industrial I/O. The SB series miniature DIP packaged dc/dc converter delivers an output power of 3W, 5W or 8W, and accepts single-range and 2-to-1 wide range inputs from 9 to 75 Vdc. There are 55 models in the SB series, all providing single and dual outputs from 3.3 to 24 Vdc. All SB models contain short circuit protection and an internal input filter, eliminating the need for the addition of external components. The converter delivers 1,600 Vdc I/O isolation and will operate over the ambient temperature range of –20°C to +60°C without forced cooling or output power derating. Units are fully encapsulated and are package size identical to more costly products. Pricing start at $13. ASTRODYNE, Taunton, MA. (800) 823-8082.
