For designers looking to get their MMC2001-based products to market faster, the M•CORE FPGA market development kit has been created to accelerate the design of peripheral modules for the M•CORE processor. The kit enables rapid prototyping of customers' peripheral logic. Using the Altera FLEX 10K PLD, a user's proprietary logic design can be downloaded to the PLD and validated at system speeds before integration with the MMC2001 chip's standard-cell architecture. The kit consists of an MMC2001 controller plus memory board and the FPGA board. The PLD gives users 100k gates for peripherals or other custom modules. Also provided is the full Altera MAX+PLUS II development software package, with library support for Verilog and VHDL design, synthesis and place-and-route, as well as other software tools.
