Suitable for use on pc boards that are to pass through direct wave or IR reflow soldering operations, the Kapton polyimide thermal-transfer labels have been engineered to withstand "flash" temperatures as high as 617°F for up to five minutes and temperatures up to 482°F for as long as 30 minutes. They also boast of low outgassing properties and the ability to withstand harsh solvents, oils and chemicals without over-laminating.
The 2-mil thick labels are made using a permanent acrylic adhesive and work with applicators and high-speed printers. They also are UL approved for thermal-transfer printers using many standard resin ribbons and meet MIL-STD-202F, Notice 12 Method 215J specs.
