Heatsink/Clip Cools Plastic Power Packages

Aug. 1, 1998

Installation costs are said to be lowered without sacrificing thermal integrity with the TECH220 and TECH247 series of Thermalclip heatsink/clip combinations. The products cool standard JEDEC TO-220, TO-218 and TO-247 plastic power packages as well as the new MAX220 and MAX247 packages from STMicroelectronics and the Super247 packages from International Rectifier. The series comes with such standard features integral clip, pc board standoffs, and solderable tabs.Other features include integrated mechanical stops to ensure proper alignment of leads to heatsink; bifurcated solderable tabs; right-angle standoffs; and a universal mechanical design that uses the same heatsink slot dimensions for both TO-220 and TO-247 packages.
