Spring-Loaded Contacts Target Custom Applications

May 1, 2002

Designed for use in custom connectors, new modular spring-loaded come in seven sizes of surface mount contacts ranging in profile from .177" to .295", and can be arranged in arrays down to a 0.100" grid. Contacts have a precision-machined piston and base and are gold-plated to assure a minimum life of 40,000 cycles. All contacts have a long stroke relative to the low profile of the final assembly. The current rating of each contact is 2A continuous, 3A peak. Application-specific insulators are molded from high temperature Nylon 46, a material compatible with all soldering processes including "lead-free" profiles. Custom spring-loaded connectors are typically used as the battery-charger interface for portable equipment such as mobile phones and radios, bar code readers, and medical and test instruments. They can also be used as a rugged surface-to-surface connector between circuit boards. MILL-MAX MANUFACTURING CORP., Oyster Bay, NY. (516) 922-6000.
