Protecting power interface and distribution circuits from damaging voltage and current surges is made easier with MAINS-PRINTRAB, a line of ac power protection products for pc board applications. The devices feature a pluggable, hybrid protection circuit with metal oxide varistor (MOV) and gas tube technology. The MOV circuit is thermally monitored and features a disconnect, LED indication, and alarm contacts, which activate upon failure or degradation of the MOV. The user can replace the protection plug without shutting down power.The board-mountable devices provide up to 4.5 kA of surge discharge capacity and transient suppression in both common and normal mode configurations. They are available with a pc board mounting kit, PRT-MK1, which includes a board mount header, mounting screws, guide pin and drilling layout.
