Claiming an I/O-market first, the COMM+16.PCIe may be the only PCI Express board to feature 16 RS-232 ports. Essentially an RS-232 serial I/O adapter, the board fosters 16C854 UARTs with 128-byte FIFOs, allegedly 16 times larger than comparable boards. Each serial port provides a maximum data rate of 460.8 kb/s and the board specifies an operating temperature range from 0°C to +70°C, with extended temperature versions from -40°C +85°C available as an option. Additionally, it includes SeaCOM software for Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista and Linux operating systems plus WinSSD, an application for testing and diagnostics including BERT, throughput monitoring, loopback tests, and test pattern message transmissions.
