Connector Option Boosts Un-Mating Forces

Dec. 13, 2006
The addition of a standard Retention Pin to Samtec's Q2 high-speed connector system can double the connector's un-mating forces.

Features available on the Q2 second-generation high-speed connector system (QMS/QFS series) from Samtec have been expanded to include a standard Retention Pin option (RT1) that can as much as double the un-mating forces in typical applications up to 100 cycles. This feature can also be added to a number of the company's other high-speed connector sets and Data Rate high-speed cable assemblies as application-specific options.

Q2 connectors feature from 52 to 156 I/Os on 0.635-mm (0.025-in.) pitch and a mated board spacing of 10 mm. Other optional features include shields, power pins, and MMCX-scale RF connectors integrated into the connector set (see the figure). Data Rate cables are available with a choice of pitches and 50-Ω micro coax cable or 100-Ω twinax EyeSpeed cable.
